Launch Date Of Huawei Kirin 990 name, And ever thing that you need to know.
Every year Huawei launched new Kirin chipset in its Mate series, this is something that we are seeing from the launch of the Huawei Mate 8. The new processor might be launched in the Mate 30 series later this year, and Huawei has just given us a launch date and name for the new chipset.
Company uploaded a teaser video on YouTube, that confirmers the Kirin 990 name and a September 6 launch date. This date is came as Huawei’s IFA event in Berlin.
This is not the first time Huawei launched a Kirin chipset at IFA, as it previously did this for the Kirin 980 last year and the Kirin 970 in 2017. They then followed up these events with Mate 20 series and Mate 10 series launches.
Expectations from Kirin 990?
The video shows us 5G tech, that means this new processor will support 5G. But can Kirin 990 integrate the 5G modem into its design or we will have a separate modem from the chipset as was the case in the Kirin 980?
If they integrated 5G modem into the Kirin 990 then it might give better power efficiency in theory rather than adding a separate 5G modem with the chipset. Huawei did not comment so we are not sure that Huawei is ready to deliver an integrated solution just yet. Bit if they integrate 5G in its chipset it could result in much wider adoption of 5G phones, as devices equipped with the processor could all support 5G in theory.
Early rumours hinted at a 7nm EUV manufacturing process, which will have EUV the foundation for future chipset designs. Neown also told our insider that the Kirin 990 is tipped to offer 4K/60fps recording for the first time in the Kirin series.
Usually Huawei is quick to adopt Arm’s latest CPU and GPU technology, so we there is huge possibility that Cortex-A77 CPU cores and the Mali-G77 GPU. There will even be improved in NPU. In fact, Huawei’s Kirin 810 processor offered an NPU based on its in-house Da Vinci architecture for the first time. Don’t be new if the company adopts this architecture for use in the Kirin 990 too.
